Members use 75,000 support cards to create STOP HOMECARE CUTS logo on Capitol steps

Today, June 15th, members of SEIU 6434 and UHW made sure that our message to STOP HOMECARE CUTS was not only heard by Sacramento legislators, but also seen as Conference Committee members prepare to vote on the proposed cuts to IHSS this afternoon! Working with the 75,000 signed postcards we’ve received from our postcard campaign, members joined San Francisco-based political artists to create a 625 square foot outline of our campaign logo at the base of the Capitol steps. The event drew media attention from multiple television and radio stations. It also allowed us the opportunity to paint a picture of the devastation the Governor’s cuts would cause as well as to push for a balanced approach to solving the State’s budget crisis.
